If drones are part of your operation, they’re a critical tool you can’t afford to sacrifice. When the presence of drones is unwanted, though, they can become a significant nuisance that feels virtually impossible to deal with. Fortunately, that’s where DeDrone counter-drone software comes in. Designed to help create “drone-free” zones around critical infrastructures like airports and other facilities, DeDrone enables you to maintain secure airspace and limit unwanted intrusions.

Who DeDrone Works for

DeDrone is a product designed with airports, prisons, and sensitive commercial operations in mind. The products included in the software package are designed to work with existing airport detection systems to do two things:

  1. Spot drones in protected airspace
  2. Stop them before they invite that airspace or pose a security threat

DeDrrone boasts a suite of products, including DroneTracker, which is designed to identify drone presence and alert necessary persons, and DroneDNA, which identifies third-party drones right down to their make, model, and mode of operation.

Drones and Protected Airspace, by the Numbers

While drones may seem like a small tool, compared to a commercial airliner, they can quickly become a significant threat. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), there are currently 1.3 million drones registered to users. This represents an uptick from just 470,000 in 2016. While a fraction of these drones are registered to commercial users, most are operated by hobbyist pilots. While these hobbyist pilots are legally required to fly under strict FAA safety guidelines (the regulations of which include the mandate that pilots keep their drones in sight and below 400 feet in altitude), many pilots don’t follow these rules.

As a result, drones routinely wind up in places they do not belong. According to one study conducted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 7% of drone flights operated above 400 feet, and 21% “exceeded the recommended maximum altitude for the area in which they were operating.”

These transgressions create a risk of impact, interrupted flight schedules, and mower for commercial airliners and control operations. To maintain security, airports, prisons, and other sensitive commercial operations must find ways to keep their airspace private.
